Why Installing a Home EV Charger in the UK Just Makes Sense

🔌 Power Your Drive: Why Installing a Home EV Charger in the UK Just Makes Sense

Introduction

Switching to an electric vehicle (EV) is only half the journey — where and how you charge it is just as important. Imagine pulling into your driveway after work and having your car topped up overnight — no more hunting for a public charger or waiting in queues. Installing a dedicated home EV charger gives you convenience, lower costs, and peace of mind.

If you’re ready to take that step, you can get a quote and schedule installation here:

The Benefits of a Home EV Charger

1. Speed & Safety

Compared to plugging into a standard 3-pin socket, a home EV charger (often 7 kW or more) can charge your car much faster and more safely. These charge points are designed with safety cutouts, temperature sensors, surge protection, and smart features (like scheduling) built in.

2. Lower Running Costs

Home electricity—even with off-peak tariffs—is usually far cheaper per kWh than most public chargers. Over time, that saving really adds up. Plus, you avoid the hassle and premium costs of public charging networks.

3. Property Value & Appeal

An EV-ready home is increasingly attractive to future buyers or renters. Having an already installed charger adds a selling (or rental) point and shows your property is future-proofed.

4. Environmental Impact

Charging at home means you can align your usage with renewables (if your supplier or setup allows). It reduces demand on public infrastructure, encourages cleaner energy use, and lowers your carbon footprint.

Cheap tools or expensive premium tools?

OK so I get the argument. I got the best tools, snap on, Mac tools etc with a lifetime guarantee! The other guy, your mate says  “Look at these tools I just bought really cheap, why pay the price you paid when you can have them for a fraction of the price”. In my experience after 25 years in the motor trade I have come to a conclusion. But before I reveal, I have to say at the start of my time as a mechanic,I was snap on tools all the way. Unfortunately now after paying a stupid amount for tools it doesn’t matter. What good is a tool you Left on the bulkhead under the bonnet costing £60, or a tool that cost you £6. I know the answer. It’s no good. But the £6 one is easily replaceable. What’s more is that in my time in the trade I have found the quality to be almost as good as some premium tools. Not to say it’s the same. To conclude if you are totally obsessed with your tools and you put them away after every use definitely consider the premium tool. But if you’re the busy me...
