Skoda 1.6 diesel timing belt tensioner fault part 2

OK so it’s been a while and I do apologise to those waiting for the conclusion of this. So did I get to the bottom of this? Was it the timing? Sometimes you feel you need to give up, did I? Yes, yes and obviously No. I did eventually get to the bottom of this, I have finally gotten over the stress and sleepless nights this caused me after stripping and checking. So to conclude,  was it the timing? It had to be it couldn’t be anything else, but how? It was the cam box. The piston had hit the valves and instead of damaging the valves it spun the cams on the hollow cam shaft. This is why it seemed to time up but it didn’t. Simply replaced the stupidly expensive cam box with cams as these don’t separate. After replacement. It ran like a dream. Finally no more messing with this. And a happy and unhappy customer with a huge bill.

Check out latest video. How to replace Audi A5 timing belt easily.

It’s common that many think the front end has to be removed on the Audi range with the transverse Diesel engine, but it doesn’t and is a lot easier to replace than many think. I have made a short photographic video showing step by step how to do it. This covers most Audi A5 and A6 models. The best bit is you don’t need any special tools.
